INSTRUMENTS

Each student is responsible for proper care and any damage to the instrument during the school year. Each student also needs to have his or her own mouthpiece , care kit, and book.

Please realize that except for the biggest brass instruments some of the school instruments are only used for beginning band students. Once the student moves on to 7th and 8th grade they may or may not be able to continue to use the school instrument.

Welcome to Challenger Middle School! We hope your student’s experience here is challenging, exciting and meaningful.

The Band Program at Challenger consists of a variety of ensembles. We offer Concert Bands, Beginning bands, Jazz Band, other various ensembles. Please be aware that each band and ensemble at Challenger Middle School is open to all students.

There are many opportunities for rehearsals and performances outside of the school day for students who wish to be a part of Honor bands, Solo/ Ensemble festival, or various community performances. We will also discuss the basics of reading music, styles of music, the history of music and how music has affected world history.

The Arts can be a very rewarding and lasting experience. We hope your young musician will be a part of the Band Program at Challenger. Be sure to contact us with any questions you may have.
